Amazon introduces a new lineup of Alexa tablets featuring personalized AI, improved processing power, and full Google Play Store access, broadening user experience.

Amazon recently announced a new range of Alexa tablets that incorporate advanced technology and enhanced connectivity options. This fresh lineup includes the Amazon Alexa Tablet 12 Pro, Amazon Alexa Tablet 11, and Amazon Alexa Tablet 8, each designed to optimize user interactions with the Alexa AI assistant while providing full access to the Google Play Store.

Design and Build
The new tablets showcase an aluminum unibody construction that confers both durability and a premium feel. They boast high-resolution displays and run on an updated Android operating system. This marks a significant shift from previous models, which were based on Fire OS and were limited to Amazon's app store. According to an Amazon spokesperson, this current release is not merely an iteration of the Fire Tablets but a completely new product line featuring novel hardware and software capabilities aimed at attracting a broader customer base.
Alexa Tablet 12 Pro: Specifications and Features
The flagship model, the Amazon Alexa Tablet 12 Pro, is particularly noteworthy. Measuring just 6.5 mm thick, it presents a 12-inch display with a resolution of 280 pixels per inch (PPI), a refreshing 120Hz screen rate, and a 3:2 aspect ratio that enhances usability for various tasks from reading to multitasking. Two variants of this display are offered: a standard version and a Nanomatte variant that minimizes glare.
Amazon claims that the Tablet 12 Pro significantly ups the ante in performance with nearly triple the processing capability and nine times greater graphics performance than any earlier tablet from the company. This improvement is set to accommodate everything from intensive gaming and multitasking across multiple windows to seamless 4K streaming. Audio quality is supported by Dolby Atmos speakers, and users can expect up to 16 hours of continuous video playback.
To complement its functional capabilities, Amazon has also introduced the Alexa Tablet Pro Pen and Pro Keyboard, transforming the tablet into a competent workstation, ideal for productivity-oriented users.

The Alexa Tablet 12 Pro is priced starting from $499.99, while the Nanomatte model is available from $549.99, both in a sophisticated Graphite finish.
Alexa Tablet 11 and 8: Targeted Features
Moving down the lineup, the Alexa Tablet 11 offers an 11-inch screen with a resolution of 2.5K at 276 PPI, complemented by a fluid 90Hz display for enhanced responsiveness. With capabilities tailored for streaming, gaming, reading, and web browsing, it features 16 hours of video playback and dual Dolby Atmos speakers. This model starts at $329.99 and is offered in several colors: Graphite, Amethyst, and Matcha.
The Alexa Tablet 8, the most compact option, possesses an 8.7-inch display and a lightweight design at only 329 grams, making it highly portable. Targeted at users who prioritize on-the-go functionality for reading, browsing, or streaming, it starts at $229.99 and is available in Graphite, Rosette, and Teal.
Enhanced User Experience with Alexa+
All three tablets come equipped with built-in access to Alexa+, allowing users to engage the virtual assistant through voice commands or a designated button. The On-Screen Intelligence feature enables Alexa to provide contextual assistance. For example, when reviewing hiking trails, users can inquire, “Which of these hikes is best for me?” This level of interaction enhances the user experience, making the tablets more than just media devices.
Kindle Integration and Family Options
In addition to these functionalities, Amazon introduces a new reading experience through the Kindle app, wherein notifications are silenced, blue light is reduced, and battery life can extend up to 20 hours—ideal for avid readers wishing to immerse themselves in their books.
Additionally, Amazon is launching new Amazon Kids Tablets available in 8.7-inch and 11-inch sizes. Bundled offers include a tablet along with a kid-proof case and a year’s access to Amazon Kids+, granting access to a wide range of child-friendly content.
Each tablet variant is tailored for specific age groups with design adaptations that cater to their needs—such as softer bumpers for younger children and more streamlined designs for older kids priced competitively.

Consumers can expect the complete range of tablets—both the Alexa Tablets and the Kids Tablets—to become available for sale on October 14, 2026, in the U.S., Mexico, and Canada, with additional markets including the U.K., Germany, France, Italy, and Spain following on October 19.
